Yearly time switch works from electrical distribution board

Sophisticated annual programming for up to four electrical circuits can be provided at the distribution board using this time switch from Hager.

Hager has introduced a yearly time switch that offers a simple way of saving energy through the distribution board. These timers are easy to install and program. Each can control up to four circuits, such as heating, lighting and ventilation.

Steve Dyson, product manager for Hager, says, There is a real need for products that will help manage energy consumption in a building. The simplest and most cost-effective method is often to retrofit control to the existing electrical distribution system.’

These 4-channel timers have a large display with programming functions. There are up to 300 programming steps, including a basic weekly program, sub-programs and additional programming steps. The resulting control can be as simple or sophisticated as the user wants it to be. There is also an input allowing an external over-ride.

Typically, the basic weekly programme would run permanently unless over-ridden by a sub-program, which could define a different weekly program and when it will run.

A specific program step is the next level of control and defines a specific time and date.

Finally, there is a holiday option.

The output can be defined as on, off, impulse or cycle. These units also take into account all events in a year, so they can, for example, calculate Easter.

After programming, the keyboard can be locked with a PIN code. Information can be saved onto a programming key and use to program other yearly time switches with similar needs.
