Delta Controls provides building-automation systems for summer Olympics — and beyond
An important BACnet building-automation project for the summer Olympics Games was completed by Delta Controls.
The BACnet open-protocol building-automation system for the 173 000 m2 Beijing Olympic Park Underground Commercial Centre was provided by Delta Controls — a world leader in providing BACnet open-protocol BAS systems. During the recent Olympic Games, this commercial centre was the operations control centre for the Olympic committee and security guards. It was also the subway transit centre for Olympic spectators. Its main usage now is sport leisure activities, creative cultural functions and commercial retail business use. The BAS installation was implemented in two stages. The first was a 2-month fast-track installation started in June 2008 and completed in time for the summer Olympics. The scope of this stage included OWS graphical workstation, nine chillers, nine chilled-water pumps, nine condensing water pumps, nine cooling towers, 15 hot-water heat exchangers and BACnet integration of the chillers. It also included 150 AHUs, 330 exhaust fans, 150 domestic water tanks and 300 waste-water pumps. The second stage followed the Paralympics and included the final integration of various building systems, including lighting and 60 lifts. The final total of input and output connections is 7000 points and 1000 integration points.
