Two Toshiba air-conditioning systems share one controller
Toshiba air-conditioning systems installed in the refurbishment of this building for WMT near Sheffield qualified for Enhanced Capital Allowances.
As part of refurbishment and reorganisation of the headquarters of engineering-parts wholesaler WNT outside Sheffield, Toshiba VRF air-conditioning equipment using R410A dual inverter technology has been installed. There are two systems, a 28 kW SMMS and a 33.5 kW SHRM. The ability of these VRF systems to have both 3-pipe and 2-pipe systems operating through a single central controller was a major attraction to WNT. The systems were installed in an industrial unit next door to create an open-plan call centre for WNT’s distribution service for spares and supplies by Toshiba accredited installer Elyo UK. The work has benefited from the tax advantages of Enhanced Capital Allowances. The south-facing units have glazed frontages, and the existing office areas were unbearably hot last summer. Changes include the creation of a mezzanine office area above its warehouse and the new call centre The mezzanine offices are served by the 3-pipe system, so that individual offices can have either heating or cooling at the same time. The call centre has additional heat gain from the computer equipment, so it requires only a 2-pipe system. WNT operates fixed hours, so time-clock control is adequate.
