Sheltered accommodation enjoys benefits of younger boilers

Improving energy efficiency and maintenance — these Broag condensing boilers are part of replacement system to provide heating and hot water for sheltered housing in Marlow.
Obsolescent pressure-jet boilers serving two linked sheltered housing schemes in Marlow have been replaced by two Broag high-efficiency condensing boilers with intelligent controls and 100% pre-mix combustion. Fully modulating burners offer high economies at part or full load. The sheltered housing is run by Wycombe District Council. The original boilers were located in New Court, an old manor house that had been extended to create 40 flats and bedsits. They also provided heating and hot water for 13 similar dwellings in Liston House, a separate block in the grounds of New Court. The old boilers were reaching the end of their life, their noise had become a problem, and access for maintenance was difficult. To replace them, R. & L. Paul (West Drayton) Ltd has installed separate boiler plants in the two buildings. New Court has three 6-section condensing boilers, together with three calorifiers and pressurisation equipment. An unused bedsit in Liston House now contains three wall-hung condensing boilers and cascade kit, forming a neat and compact installation that is very quiet in operation.
