LG moves into VRF market

Multi V
LE has entered the VRF market with the launch of the Multi V system capable of serving one indoor unit from 16 indoor units.
LG has introduced a range of VRF air-conditioning products that can operate up to 16 indoor units from one outdoor unit. Multi V is initially available in two sizes — 4.5 and 10 hp and can be operated via the Internet, a PC, a deluxe or simple controller. Steve Shin of LG explains, ‘This is our first move into this part of the air-conditioning market. We are planning further launches with products that will strive to be the industry’s benchmark in the VRF sector. We have made our mark in the splits market with an advanced range. We will follow the same philosophy in reducing technically superior products which will be easier to install, easier to use and as energy efficiency as possible.’ Multi V can support pipe runs of up to 125 m and a maximum vertical height of 50 m. The outdoor unit uses auto addressing. There is automatic confirmation of each indoor unit, without the use of cumbersome DIP switches, by storing and sending specific numbers to EEPROM in the indoor unit. This facility greatly reduces installation time. Another time saver is the use of non-polarised wire. A self-diagnostic programme will identify any problems using a PC or notebook — during installation, commissioning and operation. Error codes are displayed on the controller screen. One outdoor unit can serve any mixture of up to 16 cassettes, wall-mounted units, ducted or ArtCool units. The outdoor units have ‘Gold Fin’ on the condensing coils for durability. The R407C compressors have high-efficiency inverter control, and low-noise/high-static-pressure fans are used.
