Double success for SES apprentice

Star apprentice — Josh Derry of SES.

Young SES electrician Josh Derry has been names Leeds College of Building’s electrical installation apprentice of the year, adding to his earlier success as winner of the NAPIT skills competition for young engineers. More success could follow, for he and fellow apprentice Josh Skitt were selected to compete in the SkillElectric and SkillPipe challenges, respectively.

Both these challenges form part of the World Skills UK competition — one of the largest career and skills events in the UK.

In the past 12 months, five of SES’s apprentices have won industry or college accolades.

Peter Lewis, managing director of SES, said, ‘For many years we have worked closely with the college on our dedicated training programme to produce some fine building-services professionals. The fact that our apprentices continue to win these awards tells me that we are providing training of the highest calibre. This not only benefits the individual and SES, it is also of great benefit to our clients and project partners, who are guaranteed a high level of workmanship when they appoint us to their schemes.’
