Low-profile heat-recovery ventilation

Thermal Technology, energy recovery ventilation, heat recovery

Thermal Technology has improved the performance and capabilities of low-height ceiling-ventilation/heat-recovery units by incorporating backward-cured fans with EC motors. The fans for the new range of Shallovent 3 units have been selected to exceed the requirements of ErP 2015. The fans can be controlled by a 0 to 10 V or 10 mA signal, so trimming duty points is simple. Air-quality sensors or PIR control are available.

The recuperators are Eurovent certified and have efficiencies of up to 77%. The selections are made with low air-side pressure drops so that specific fan pressures are minimised and the units comply with the non-domestic building-services compliance guide.

Recuperator bypasses provide free cooling in spring and autumn and is an automatic function when the control package is ordered from Thermal Technology.

For areas where noise is a sensitive issue, the standard double-skin construction can be complemented with additional high-mass thermal insulation. This low-noise version takes advantage of unit component insertion losses to minimise in-duct sound levels. Flexible connections are made from an acoustic sound-barrier material with a transmission loss of 26 dB at 1 kHz. Vibration transmission is minimised by spring anti-vibration mounts.
