Faber Maunsell is a better place to work

Faber Maunsell has improved its position as one of the best companies in the UK to work for, with a placing of 33rd in the ‘Financial Times 50 best UK workplaces 2005’. This is the third year running that this firm of consulting engineers has been included, having been placed 41st for the past two years. The Financial Times and Accountability, in collaboration with ‘Great Place to Work Europe’, believe that to find the best places to work in the UK, you have to ask the staff. Employee questionnaires were sent to a random sample of staff in each company. Any organisation with more than 50 employees, was eligible to take part in the survey, which also included detailed questioning of the organisations themselves on human-resource policies, workplace practices, philosophy and company culture. Ken Dalton, chief executive of Faber Maunsell, says, ‘We have certainly worked hard to develop a forward-thinking management philosophy that encourages individuals to realise their own potential and take a personal stake in the company’s future. Our success in these awards and our own staff surveys over the last seven years have shown that our people are proud of working for Faber Maunsell.’
