Kershaw works on trio of contracts for the University of Cambridge

contractor, Kershaw

Kershaw Mechanical Services has completed two high-profile building-services contracts for local client Cambridge University, and is currently working on another for the same client. One of the completed projects is the Alison Richard Building (pictured), the new homes for humanities, social sciences and arts. With a total M&E value of £2.5 million, Kershaw installed the full range of building services into its three floors.

Services included basement plant rooms, radiator and chilled-water systems designed to control humidity in the basement where paper and film archives are stored, and cool the server rooms — ventilation systems and combined fire/smoke system. The first and second floors contain offices, meeting and seminar rooms, and support services.

At Harvey Court for Gonville & Caius College, Kershaw was responsible for the mechanical installation of new student accommodation, comprising full heating and ventilation and solar PV panels to parts of the roof.

The Jesus College project is also for student accommodation, and Kershaw is installing full M&E services into the Carpenter and Morley Horder buildings. Works in these Grade 1 listed buildings include new heating and domestic service plant, extraction system using in-house-manufactured ductwork, and a ground-source heat pump.
