Atkins’ procurement excellence is re-accredited

Ian Schollar (left), acting heat of certification at CIPS, presents Andrew Wilkinson of Atkins with the company’s re-accreditation for its excellence procurement.

Atkins has been re-accredited with a globally recognised procurement certification by the Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply (CIPS), one of only 80 companies in the world to currently hold this award. The certification acknowledges the achievement of procurement excellence through the organisation’s procurement policies, procedures and processes that are in place to support this.

The supply chain at Atkins delivers added value to the organisation and its stakeholders.

Atkins’ supply chain has made several efficiency savings on over 60 initiatives within the company, along with engaging suppliers in the Atkins agenda for carbon-critical sustainability. The creation of great relationships with suppliers and getting better value for lower cost is one of the main reasons for Atkins being re-accredited.

Andrew Wilkinson, head of the managing agent business at Atkins, said, ‘Supply chain is at the heart of all we do within the business. Achieving this re-certification is extremely important to enable us to continue our work in getting the best value for Atkins and our clients.’

CIPS accreditation is awarded every four years, and CIPS chief executive David Noble comments, ‘Atkins has progressed significantly from its original accreditation in 2006. Overall, Atkins has built on their procurement capability with some excellent and innovative processes.’
