Free-cooling chillers are glycol free

Walter Meier, Climate UK, chiller, free cooling

Walter Meier (Climate UK) has introduced a glycol-free version of the Blue Box Zeta Echos FC free-cooling chiller. Capable of achieving energy savings of up to 35% over conventional air-cooled chillers, these units are well suited for applications such as data centres that operate 24 hours a day. Free cooling becomes available at 15°C ambient and rises to 100% at 0°C.

The difference from other models is the use of two separate hydraulic circuits. The free-cooling coil contains glycol, and the circuit to the evaporator and indoor units contains just water, increasing system efficiency.

The free-cooling system has a single fan section. The condensing coil and free-cooling coil are on opposite sides of the chiller, contributing to these chillers having the highest SEER in their class.

The refrigerant is R410A, and the range offers cooling capacities from 45 to 144 kW.
