MHIE air conditioning systems serve new 4-star hotel in Luton

Luton’s newest 4-star hotel, The Icon, makes extensive use of VRF heat-recovery air conditioning and split systems from Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Europe to provide comfort efficiently. The project by local property developer Franco Anacreonte involved refurbishing and joining two substantial office buildings to create a luxury hotel close to the town centre.

A VRF system from MHIE’s Ecolution HyperMulti KX6 range serves 34 guest rooms. High-performance split systems from the FD Series serve ground-floor facilities — including reception, restaurant and fitness room. Both systems have inverter technology to match compressor output to cooling or heating demands.

Completing the air-conditioning package is the RCH-E3 control solution. Each room has a controller linked to the hotel’s BMS via MHIE’s SC-LGWN-A LonWorks interface device. Designed specifically for hotel rooms, the RCH-E3 includes an easy-to-read control panel with guests restricted to temperature adjustment from 16 to 30°C. Timing and other advanced functions are controlled centrally via the BMS.

The systems were installed by D R Energy Services and equipment supplied by HRP.
