Call centre completes progressive installation of VRF air conditioning

The staged installation of a Fujitsu VRF air-conditioning system in a 1020 m2 call centre for Cox Insurance has now been completed. The VRF system serves cellular offices. There are also a number of Multi-type split air conditioners in open-plan areas, with up to four indoor units served by one outdoor unit. The project commenced as a single-floor upgrade of air conditioning and lighting managed by consultant Slender Winter Partnership. The work was to expand in stages until the whole building was fully air conditioned. RPM Installations was the contractor, with units supplied by Ocean Air Distribution. Owing to the high IT content of the call centre, the main need is for cooling. However, because the existing hot-water heating system did not adequately serve the revised office layout, the radiators were isolated and air conditioners with heat pumps were specified. In all, there are seven VRF systems and seven Multi-type split systems. For ease of installation and to achieve a discreet finish, the client specified ceiling cassettes that would fit flush to the ceiling and into the same space as the 600 mm-square ceiling tiles being applied.
