Gas-fired generator solves power back-up problem

Gas fired generator
Unable to install a diesel generator, World Courier now has a Scorpion gas-powered standby generator.
World Courier has installed a Scorpion gas-powered generator to support its refrigeration system to solve the problem of not being able to install a diesel generator in its car park due to regulatory constraints. The company is a global speciality courier in the transport of time- or temperature-sensitive biopharmaceutical consignments and had experienced a number of power cuts, some of them prolonged. Being located near the end of a runway at Heathrow Airport also made it vulnerable to potential incidents that could result in loss of power. World Courier already had its refrigeration system backed up by carbon dioxide but wanted a secondary backup system. Scorpion supplied a 100 kVA gas generator in a weatherproof and acoustic canopy. It has a water-jacket heater to keep the engine at optimum temperature for quick start-up and rapid load acceptance.
