IES claims first EPC using dynamic simulation

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES) and Bureau Veritas claim the lodgement of the first dynamic-simulation non-dwelling Energy Performance Certificate in the UK. It is for the 14 000 m2 Exchequer Court at 33 St Mary Axe, London EC3. The certification was undertake for property-management company Broadgate Estates and owner Invista Real Estate Management. The building received a D rating and was graded by CIBSE Accredited Energy Assessor Colin Rees of IES Consulting. He comments: ‘Undertaking the EPC assessment using the dynamic simulation model method was a necessity for this building because of its size and zone complexity. However, overall it was a pretty standard assessment.’ He used the recently approved DSM EPC VE Compliance software available in v5.9 of IES’s Virtual Environment performance analysis suite.
