Baudet delivers prefabricated bathroom pods for student hall of residence

Ensuite facilities for 144 students in a new hall of residence for the University of Greenwich are provided by pods prefabricated by Baudet.
Baudet has supplied 144 bathroom pods for student halls of resident at the University of Greenwich as a cost-effective and time-saving solution for providing bathrooms. The project at Medway is a timber-framed construction of 144 single units organised into flats of six with lounge and kitchen facilities. Kevin Matthews, project architect with GDM Architects comments, ‘Each bedroom needed to have an ensuite bathroom, incorporating a toilet, shower and washbasin. The ensuite facilities needed to be practical and functional whilst taking up minimal amount of space.’ Provian, main contractor for the project, selected bathroom pods made off site to fulfil criteria for saving costs and time and the level of sales support offered. Rick Archer of Provian Construction, says, ‘Our client had used Baudet on another project and had been delighted with the results.’ Each pod was delivered to site ready plumbed so that it could be slotted into place ready for plumbers and electricians to make a few straightforward connections. The final requirement is plasterboard around the pod.
