Floor-standing condensing boiler has small footprint

Viessmann’s Vitocrossal 100 range of gas-fired condensing floor-standing boilers have an exceptionally small footprint thanks to an innovative stainless-steel heat exchanger. There are seven models with outputs from 80 to 320 kW in casing that is 680 mm wide, 1459 mm high and lengths ranging from 660 to 1010 mm. Boilers with comparable outputs from other manufacturers are said to be typically 1000 to 1200 mm long. There is also the option of a twin cascade within a single casing to give an output of up to 640 kW.

These boilers have the Lambda Pro combustion-control system for optimum performance and efficiency.

Being floor standing, Vitocrossal boilers have a maximum flow temperature of 95°C, compared with 75 to 80°C for wall-hung boilers, and an operating pressure of 6 bar. Efficiency is 98.2% gross, with a modulating range of up to 1:5.

These boilers have a high water content and no minimum flowrate requirement. There is no need for a boiler pump.

For ease of installation, boilers are prewired and preassembled. They have three wheels so that they can be moved easily into position.

Jonathan Grist, commercial sales director, comments, ‘The new Vitocrossal 100 is the solution to the problem of modernising plant rooms where there is difficult access, a small floor area or low ceiling height.

‘Many schools have old atmospheric boilers where is was previously impossible to retrofit a condensing boiler in the same space, but this boiler’s compact technology makes that possible.’
