Wieland delivers power for new primary school

Wieland has supplied its Metalynx2 modular wiring system and a range of components for lighting and power distribution for the new Marlborough Primary School in the Chelsea area of London. This 2-form-entry primary school replaces an old unsuitable Victorian building on the site, which has been demolished.

The new school is larger and provides 5668 m2 of space — including new halls, studio space, classrooms and a biodiversity roof. There is a multi-use games area on the top level.

All electrical work was overseen by PhoenixME, which specified the Metalynx system. Project manager Darren Davies said, ‘We are very familiar with the Wieland system, having used it on many projects. Metalynx2 is quick to install as all components arrive on site ready to connect, which is imperative when we are up against tight project deadlines. The system comes colour coded and polarised, which dismisses any chance of installation error.

‘The system is also circular, so it can be easily installed through fire barriers and stud walls.’
