Andrews Water Heaters comes to aid of Sheffield youth club

Members of a Sheffield youth club are enjoying a warmer start to 2016 thanks to a new heating and hot-water system donated by Andrews Water Heaters. Double Six Youth Club provides activities and support to around 120 young people aged eight to 19 each week. The club launched a campaign appealing for help after receiving a £6000 gas bill, which jeopardised the 50-year-old organisation.

A major issue was that the existing storage heater was proving to be inefficient and needed to be replaced as it heated and stored hot water continuously, even though the club is only open for a couple of days a week.

The club was able to obtain expert advice and equipment for free through its connections to Andrews through long-term club supporter Gary Stoddart. With three generations of his family having attended the club, heating professional Gary carried out an initial site survey and worked with club managers to help project manage the work.

The new equipment includes a 56 kW condensing water heater and a 60 kW boiler from sister brand Potterton Commercial. The new water heater provides continuous hot water on demand.

Richard Hay of Double Six Youth Club said, ‘The cost savings from the replacement of the water heater will make a huge difference to the club.’
