Rural Energy has completed the installation of nine biomass heating systems as part of a £1.3 million project with Buckinghamshire County Council. Energy costs are being reduced by over £30 000 a year. There will also be an annual income of £150 000 from the Renewable Heat Incentive for the 20-year life of the scheme.

The first phase of the project comprised the installation of five stand-alone Heat Pods incorporating four 199 kW and one 150 kW Herz Firematic boilers into locations such as Buckinghamshire County Museum and Green Park, a management training centre (pictured). The prefabricated Heat Pods include plant room and fuel store.

The second phase of the project involved the retrofitting of three 100 kW and one 150 kW Firematic boilers into existing plant rooms in schools.

Following the installation and commissioning of the boilers, Rural Energy has taken up a 4-year service and maintenance contract, with an extension review at the end of the period.
