AET delivers air conditioning for 1960s office refurbishment
AET Flexible Space has supplied underfloor air-conditioning for the second phase of major refurbishment and services upgrades to Reading Bridge House in Reading. The project was designed to bring the building up to the BCO (British Council for Offices) air-conditioning standards.
The second phase of refurbishment of this 10 700 m2 building included four floors. There are 1200 floor terminal boxes comprising PMIT grilles with multi-directional airflow and an upgraded time-modulation control system.
AET comments that since such underfloor air-conditioning systems have air supplied from the central plant at 15°C, there is potential for free-cooling provision for over 60% of the year.
AET was also involved in the first phase of the refurbishment of this heated-only 1960s office building.
Throughout both phases, a major engineering challenge was the limited floor plenum height available, due to the low slab-to-slab height.
