The 25-year facilities-management contract for Liverpool Central Library & Archive has been awarded to Cofely.

Cofely has commenced delivery of a 25-year total facilities-management solution for the new Liverpool Central Library & Archive, provided by a 20-strong on-site team. The contract follows a major restoration and construction project by Liverpool City Council and Amber Infrastructure, including the restoration of the Grade 2 listed parts of the building.

To ensure life-cycle issues were addressed in the design of the building, Cofely’s involvement began early in the project, advising on issues that would affect ongoing facilities management. They included alternative energy strategies, usage and efficiencies. Following handover and prior to the public opening in May 2013, Cofely worked closing with the main contractor on snagging and residual caveated items.

Cofely’s role includes ensures the library and archive are maintained to exact atmospheric and atmospheric conditions required by the council and the British Standard for repository and archives (BS 5454).

Cofely has experience in managing facilities in publicly accessible spaces and maintaining archives in the British Library, Victoria & Albert Museum, Science Museum and Royal Museums at Greenwich.
