PICV balancing valve for small terminal units

Tour & Andersson, balancing, commissioning, PICV

A pressure-independent balancing and control valve for small terminal units in hydronic HVAC system has been introduced by Tour & Andersson. The TBV-CMP is designed for systems where modulating control is a requirement and differential pressure needs to be stabilised as close as possible to the terminal itself.

These valves can be flushed easily without having to remove any part of them.

Technical director Peter Rees explains, ‘Variable-flow systems are increasingly popular as an energy-saving alternative to traditional constant-flow water-borne heating and cooling systems. The energy savings achieved by the reduction in pump speed in these systems are substantial. However, the savings can be lost if terminal units are not operating at the specified flow.’
