Boiler condenses regardless of heating-system temperature

By using incoming fresh air for combustion to cool flue gases, Atlantic’s R series of boilers maximise condensing operation
The R Series of condensing boilers from Atlantic Boilers achieve condensing operation throughout the year, regardless of the temperature of the heating system — and realise even higher efficiencies on maximum mid-winter load. This is achieved by using a polypropylene heat exchanger that enables incoming fresh air for combustion to be pre-warmed by outgoing flue gases before being delivered to the burner. Depending on the temperature of the incoming fresh air, flue gases leave the boiler at temperatures between 15 and 45°C. Pre-warming combustion air maximises the efficiency in mid-winter when the requirement for heat is greatest. Before passing through this heat exchanger, the flue gases pass through a steel heat exchanger, where their temperature is reduced to below 90°C. R Series boilers can be fired by oil or gas and have high/low or modulating burners. Eight models deliver outputs of up to 535 kW.
