Jobs growth for Inviron in the North East

Following the securing of over £12 million-worth of new business, Inviron, a provider of building services and facilities management, has created 57 new jobs. They have come about in the 18 months since the company moved into its new offices in Washington and can be credited to a succession of major contract wins and a growing regional economy. In particular, contracts have been secured at the University of Newcastle, Northumbria University and the City of Sunderland College. Other projects include work in Baltic Place in Gateshead and East Quay 5 in Newcastle. Inviron’s commitment to training and apprenticeship schemes has been acknowledged by the winning of awards. 21-year-old Stuart Widdowfield of Washington recently won two awards from the Heating & Ventilating Contractors’ Association. They were the fourth-year apprentice-of-the-year award and the George Coase Trophy for best overall apprentice in 2007. General manager Alan Crozier says, ‘The relocation, contract wins and new jobs should enable the business to cement its position and reputation within the region’s construction industry as a company that provides good employment opportunities and high-quality workmanship to its customers, both of which we intend to build upon in the coming years.’
