Honeywell introduces wireless controller for heating manifolds

Wireless control of heating manifolds — Honeywell’s HCE80 is shown here with a CM900 wireless programmable thermostat.
Honeywell has made it much easier and faster to install energy-saving controls for underfloor heating and radiator systems served via a manifold. The HCE80 wireless manifold controller works with existing Honeywell wireless heating programmers and thermostats. It can be mounted close to the manifold, and there are no control cables between the rooms being heated. The basic HCE80 configuration controls up to five heating zones, which can be upgraded to eight zones with an HCS80 extension unit. Additional controllers and extension units can be added to control any number of additional zones. Many temperature and time control configurations are possible. Automatic temperature adjustment of a zone at various times during the day is simple using a Honeywell CM900 wireless programmable thermostat. The Y6630D wireless provides control of room temperature without timing. The HCE80 is also compatible with a CM Zone wireless zone systems. These various methods of control can be mixed on the same controller and manifold to suit site requirements. Honeywell wireless technology uses short bursts of data to minimise transmission time and avoid signal collisions. It operates in the 868 MHz band, where continuous transmissions are not allowed and there are few other users.
