Daikin advances the technology of VRV

An energy efficiency ratio of up to 4.1 can be achieved by Daikin’s heat-recovery VRVIII air conditioning system.
Daikin’s VRVIII heat-recovery air-conditioning system is said to feature a number of industry firsts. They include continuous heating during the defrost cycle for increased comfort and new brazed connections for the condensing unit and the branch selector box for refrigerant containment, reducing the risk of leakage compared to flared connections. The volume of refrigerant required has also been reduced, and changes in refrigerant volume can be revealed by a display on outdoor units. This new system offers a 14% average increase in efficiency compared to Daikin’s existing VRVII model. Heat recovery achieves COPs for heating of 4.3 and EERs for cooling of 4.1. This performance exceeds the requirements of Part L of the Building Regulations and exceeds the current criteria for qualifying for Enhanced Capital Allowances. There are two heat exchangers in the outdoor unit, which are defrosted separately so that heating can still be delivered. VRVIII also charges itself automatically, to installers do not have to calculate the volume of refrigerant required and charge the system accordingly. VRVIII can be used with 13 different indoor units in a total of 75 variants. 64 indoor units can be connected to the largest outdoor unit.
