NG Bailey has completed a £4.5 million contract for Milton Keynes Stadium in time for the new football season.
The £4.5 million contract awarded to NG Bailey for the Milton Keynes Stadium has been completed on time to enable Football League 2 team MK Dons to use it from the start of the new season. The stadium is owned by Inter MK and can stage major sporting and music events. Ian Simpson, Bailey’s senior contracts manager for the project, says, ‘The Milton Keynes Stadium has been a fantastic project and has enabled us to demonstrate our expertise, ranging from the M&E fit-out to innovative communications and technology (ICT) solutions.’ Bailey was involved in the initial concept stage of the project, prior to starting work on phase one (21 000 seats) of the 30 000-seat stadium, in January last year. Over the last 14 months, work has included a fit out of the internal and external M&E services, including floodlighting, the standby generator, UPS and CBS installations, PAVA and security systems. Life-safety alarm systems, CCTV systems, drainage and sanitary ware also formed part of the main fit out, along with the stewards’ telephone, referee’s call and high-specification public-address system. Specially designed speakers for match days and to deliver high-quality music reproduction at special events have also been installed — with the whole system using innovative IP infrastructure. The main contractor, Buckingham Group Contracting, also charged Bailey with designing systems for the infrastructure, looking forwards to a future phase of the project, which will include an integrated hotel, hospitality area, multi-use arena for sport events, live music and exhibitions, office space and further seating. Highlighting NG Bailey’s capability to offer an integrated solution to clients, Bailey provided the core M&E fit out. Other divisions, including Bailey Teswaine and Bailey Maintenance, were brought in to provide further specialist services.
