Community housing benefits from new condensing boilers

Year-round condensing operation using gas as the fuel and the possibility of converting to rape-seed oil in the future are just two of the benefits of these Atlantic boilers installed in accommodation for elderly people in Buxton.
Substantial reductions in the cost of providing heating and domestic hot water will be achieved following the installation of Atlantic gas-fired condensing boilers at Mitton Court in Buxton, which provides 60 flats for elderly people. The two R Series boilers each have a output of 153 kW and provide both weather-compensated heating and fast-recovery hot water. Mike Walters, who manages gas contracts for High Peak Community Housing, selected the plant. He says, ‘The 24/7 heating and domestic-hot-water energy demand will be substantially reduced by these boilers. Also, we have the possibility of simple changing to a renewable fuel such as rape-seed oil in the future. These boilers condense whatever the return temperature from the heating system. Their efficiency is always above 92% (gross calorific value) and can reach 99% in mid-winter.
