Coolair uses aluminium refrigeration piping for hotel renovation
Published:  08 June, 2017

Air-conditioning installer Coolair Equipment used Reflok’s aluminium piping and compression-jointing system to install a Mitsubishi Electric VRF system to provide heating and cooling for all 360 bedrooms of the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane hotel. This approach avoided the brazing operations association with copper tube.

The £1 million commission for interior fit-out specialist Beck Interiors was part of a multi-million-pound refurbishment of this sumptuous 1920s art deco hotel carried out in two phases over two years while the rest of this 5-star hotel remained fully live and operational.

Mark Garstang, regional director for Coolair, said, ‘The hotel wished to upgrade its mechanical services to the safest, most efficient and greenest standards without causing disruption to business or in any way affecting the character of the historic building — and we fully met its requirements.

‘As a business solutions partner of Mitsubishi Electric, which had approved the use of Reflok aluminium piping and joints, we were able to fit a piping solution that increased our installation speed and avoided the need for hot work permits, fire watch periods, or for oxidising or purging.
