SPIE replaces M&E in Shell tower building

SPIE has been appointed principal contractor for the capital-plant replacement works at the Shell tower building near Waterloo Station in London, As part of the project, the SPIE Building Services London and south east division will be responsible for the replacement of all major mechanical and electrical works serving the existing building, which will create an opportunity for other redevelopment works in the surrounding area.

The multi-million contract is due to be completed in October 2016. Work includes stripping out and replacing the building’s chillers and the river-water cooling system. Other work includes replacing low-voltage switch panels and transformers.

All the work will be carried out in a live building environment.
