JS Wright wins major regeneration project

JS Wright, contractor

Mechanical-services specialist JS Wright is to play a key role in the dramatic transformation of the historic Royal Docks area of east London with the design and build of services for 350 new mixed-tenure homes at Great Eastern Quays in the Royal Albert Basin, which is undergoing a new life as a vibrant family neighbourhood.

The contract is with Galliford Try Partnerships and is worth over £6 million. It involves equipping 227 apartments and duplexes for Notting Hill Housing, of which 145 will be for shared ownership and 82 for affordable rent. A further 123 homes will be for market sale, all within three blocks of between seven and eight storeys.

The 22-month project is scheduled for completion in May 2017. It is the ninth that JS Wright has been awarded by Galliford Try Partnerships in the past six years.

JS Wright will install an energy centre for the first two phases of the scheme, as well as the GQ building opposite, along with heating and hot-water services for each apartment.

The company will also provide heat-recovery ventilation for apartments, dry risers, automatic opening smoke vents and car-park ventilation. Above-ground drainage, rainwater services and a BMS complete the commission.
