Shenton Group keeps power on for Ideal Shopping Direct

Shenton Group, standby power, generator
Further loss of power during the reconnection of a repaired substation was avoided by Ideal Shopping Direct using a rental standby generator from Shenton Group.

Having already had to stop broadcasting for several hours following a major power failure at its electricity sub-station, Ideal Shopping Direct, a home-shopping retailer, contacted Shenton Group to avoid another break in power when power was transferred from a 1200 kVA standby generator brought in by power provider UK Power Networks to the repaired sub-station. The solution was based on Shenton Group’s rental generator solution.

Ideal Shopping Direct was already familiar with Shenton Group and its reputation for fast response times and engineering expertise. The plan was to send a standby generator to the Peterborough headquarters within three hours of receiving the call that the sub-station had been repaired and that mains power could be reconnected.

The standby generator took over the load from the temporary generator and that managed the switchover using full mains synchronisation so there was no break in power.
