Crabtree powers into King’s Cross Underground station

Crabtree electrical equipment is being used extensively in the latest redevelopment of Kings Cross Underground station.

Over 50 Crabtree electrical distribution boards are being used in phase 2 of the redevelopment of Kings Cross Underground station, which is necessary to cater for increased passenger flows resulting from commuter growth and the new Eurolink terminal at St Pancras. This latest development will provide a new 5000 m2 concourse, over twice the size of the existing one, with new shops and restaurants.

Crabtree Polestar Section 12 distribution boards will supply all electrical services to the station and the shopping plaza beneath. These LUL-approved boards are fitted with 25 mm 16 kA MCBs. Crabtree Metalclad wiring accessories with plain surface boxes are used throughout the working areas because they can be custom drilled to LUL’s specific requirements while maintaining the integrity of the boxes.

Capital metal-plate accessories with chrome finishes are used elsewhere in the office and shop areas.

LUL specifies Crabtree switches because they have labyrinth protection to the rear for extra safety, preventing inadvertent access to live parts when cabled and reducing visible arcing.
