Updating the air-conditioning system at the Financial Services Authority involved Trox’s UK service division refurbishing hundreds of VAV boxes.
The refurbishment of the 720 VAV (variable air volume) boxes serving the air-conditioning system of the Financial Services Authority at London’s Canary Wharf has been completed by Trox’s UK service division. The project involved validating the 15-year-old VAV boxes, and recommending refurbishment actions. The refurbishment work included changing the fans, actuators that drive the blade open and closed and other components as required. The building was occupied, so the FSA released floors individually by moving people to other areas. The rolling programme involved the completion of one or two floors at a time. The consultants were hurleypalmerflatt. Services contractor was M. J. Lonsdale, with ISG as project manager.
