Britannia devises kitchen ventilation for Grade 1 listed building
To overcome installation limitations in this new kitchen in Wadham College at Oxford University, Britannia Kitchen Ventilation devised a stainless-steel framework to support the supply air canopy.
Britannia kitchen ventilation has engineered a special solution to provide ventilation for a new kitchen for the Grade 1 listed Wadham College of Oxford University. The kitchen has a stone -vaulted ceiling, and English Heritage would not allow any new structural fixings to be installed to hang the new large supply air canopy. To overcome this problem, Britannia designed and installed an integral stainless-steel support framework to enable the canopy to stand on its own support legs, reducing the load on the ceiling. The support frame is mounted above the canopy ceiling, with the vertical legs dropping down through the extra wide service distribution unit, which also houses the mechanical and electrical services, keeping them clean and free from grease. To ensure the extract air is free from grease and odours, the canopy is fitted with integral Ultrastream ultra-violet filters to break down grease and reduce the fire risk in extract ductwork, whilst also removing odours. One benefit is that a kitchen can be located almost anywhere.
