QRL’s new approach to LST radiators

QRL Radiator Group now offers low-surface-temperature (LST) casings for its hi-lo range of panel radiators. The casings and radiators have been independently tested in an EN442-accredited laboratory. They comply with NHS guidelines for a safe surface temperature, having a maximum surface temperature of 43°C with flow/return temperatures of 80/60°C or 75/65°C. Installing a casing over a radiator does not reduce heat output, and may even increase it slightly because of the ‘chimney’ effect.

The heat emitters and radiators are packaged separately, providing the option for casings to be delivered and fitted at a later date, as part of a second fix. This allows for simple retrofitting to existing hi-lo panels and also means that the casing is protected from on-site damage from first-fix activities and associated delays.

The casings come in heights of 500, 650 and 800 mm and lengths from 600 to 2000 m.

Recent developments in QRL’s hi-lo round-top panel radiators give them better heat transfer, lower water content and the ‘best heat outputs available’ — reducing the amount of steel, and hence, cost.

Features include external and internal TRVs and an anti-microbial MRSA-resistant coating for optimum hygiene.

Thee LST casings have fully retractable forward-opening hinges to support the full weight of the casing. A standard clean can be carried out by one person. For a deeper clean, the hinges can be retracted so the casing can be removed completely.

Heavy-duty pencil-proof grilles allow air to circulate effectively and prevent foreign object accessing the heat emitter.
