Farmfoods exploits the benefits of LED lighting

Minimise Energy, LED lighting

LED lighting has been installed throughout the new 16 300 m2 Avonmouth distribution centre of Farmfoods in a scheme designed and supplied by Minimise Energy. The scheme was required to withstand temperatures of -22°C in the frozen-food storage area and also to respond and benefit from changing natural light in office areas.

Multiple vault roof lights cover 15% of the total ambient roof area. they admit natural light that needed to be considered in the lighting design.

The installation comprises 250 W high-bay LED luminaires.

Sensors in the ambient section of the building respond to the presence of people and available daylight.

William Scanlon, property development manager with Farmfoods, said, ‘Maintaining our frozen food in perfect condition is crucial to Farmfoods, So, too, is our ability to do so in the most energy-efficient way possible. Designing in the optimum LEDs and associated lighting control is one of the ways that we continue to achieve these aims.’
