Mitsubishi Electric has sponsored All Beans No Monkeys, a team of four men which will row the Atlantic Ocean later this year when it takes part in the Tallisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. The 4800 km course stretches from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua in the Caribbean.

The team will set off on 15 December in its specially named ‘Ecodan’ boat and will row continuously in 2-hour shifts for about 50 days. The crew will be equipped with 90 days of rations, which can be supplemented by collecting rainwater and fishing.

Crew member James Timbs-Harrison, Mitsubishi Electric’s heating product manager, says, ‘Only 500 people have ever rowed across the Atlantic but over 4000 have climbed Everest, so you can see how tough this challenge really is.

‘This is without doubt a challenge of a lifetime, but it is one we are all looking forward to. A big part of this challenge is also raising money and awareness for our chosen charities, and our goal is to raise £60 000, which will be split between the RNLI and Cystic Fibrosis Trust.’
